From Robert J. Sawyer, author of the TV series FlashForward.
Future. Somewhere in the universe. In the modular city of Mendelia, divination - performed on citizen's DNA - is a mandatory practice. But what mistery lies behind the killing of a soothsayer? Toby Korsakov, of the Cop Shop, investigates on the case up to the discovery of a shocking "genetic truth."
Nanotechnology, bioethics, genetic engineering: the story of Robert J. Sawyer weaves all the elements for a sharp multidisciplinary discussion, regarding the present of humanity, in a skillful way and into a detective story, which is short but intense.
Robert James Sawyer (Ottawa, April 29, 1960) is a Canadian Science Fiction author.
He considers himself a "hard" SF writer, but his interests in psychological characterization and portrait are much higher than the typical subgenre ones. His works have often metaphysical connotations, like Arthur C. Clarke and he sits firmly in the school that considers Science Fiction as a literature of ideas. His works obtained thirty-five national and international Awards, including the Nebula Award in 1995 for "The Terminal Experiment" and the Hugo Award in 2003 for "Hominids". Sawyer's stories have appeared in Analog Science Fiction, Amazing Stories, On Spec, and numerous other anthologies.
From his novel Flash Forward was created the 2009 TV series.
